Fruiting Body Forming a thin layer on the substrate, often covering a large area and enveloping moss when present, thin, smooth to somewhat lumpy, cracking with age, whitish to yellowish, margin white and fringed Flesh Whitish, waxy to gelatinous Smell Indistinct Taste Unknown Season Autumn to spring Distribution Rarely recorded, known from a handful of English counties. It is extremely common in parts of East Hampshire. Habitat On dead wood, usually from conifers especially pine, but also from deciduous trees Spore Print White Microscopic Features Spores sub-spherical, smooth (4-5) µm. Basidia cylindrical to narrowly clavate, 4-spored. Hyphal system monomitic. Gloeocystidia cylindrical to vesicular. Edibility Inedible Notes The specimen from Exbury Gardens was identified by Alan Lucas with the aid of a microscope. Unfortunately I forgot to collect a sample, hence the absence of photomicrographs.
