Distribution

Rarely recorded, known from a handful of English counties. It is extremely common in parts of East Hampshire.

On dead wood, usually from conifers especially pine, but also from deciduous trees

Microscopic Features

Spores sub-spherical, smooth (4-5) µm. Basidia cylindrical to narrowly clavate, 4-spored. Hyphal system monomitic. Gloeocystidia cylindrical to vesicular.

The specimen from Exbury Gardens was identified by Alan Lucas with the aid of a microscope. Unfortunately I forgot to collect a sample, hence the absence of photomicrographs.
