Cap Convex, expanding with age, often with a central bump, finely scaly, reddish brown, margin paler, to about 10 cm across Gills Emarginate, crowded, edges serrated, whitish to pale brown, spotted brown with age Stem Equal, concolorous with the cap, apex paler Flesh Firm, whitish Smell Indistinct Taste Slightly bitter Season Autumn Distribution Infrequent Habitat In coniferous woods, favouring pines Spore Print White Microscopic Features Spores ellipsoidal, smooth (6-8) x (4.5-5.5) µm2. Basidia club shaped, 4 spored. Cystidia not present. Cap cuticle hyphae parallel, some terminating, uppermost hyphae decorated with brown zig zag markings. Edibility Inedible
