Fruiting Body Disk shaped, surface smooth, orange, margin decorated with brown hairs, to about 15 mm across Flesh Firm, orange Smell Indistinct Taste Indistinct Season Spring to autumn Distribution Infrequent Habitat On damp rotten wood Microscopic Features Spores ellipsoidal, warty/roughened, with many oil drops (19-21) x (11-13) µm2. Paraphyses septate, cylindrical, tips slightly expanded. Marginal hairs septate, tips pointed, sometimes branched at the base, to about 500 µm long. Edibility Inedible Notes This fungus is rather similar to Scutellinia scutellata, both macroscopically and microscopically. It is distinguished by the orange colour slightly larger spores, and shorter marginal hairs.
