Fruiting Body Sub-spherical, smooth, usually cracking with age, whitish when young, then yellow brown, decorated with coarse yellow brown strands, inside whitish, then becoming dark greenish brown when mature, to about 6 cm across Smell Indistinct when young, strong and rather unpleasant when mature, and detectable from several metres away Taste Indistinct Season Autumn Distribution Infrequent, more common in Scotland Habitat Partially buried in sandy soil in pine woods Edibility Inedible |
