Sub-spherical, smooth, usually cracking with age, whitish when young, then yellow brown, decorated with coarse yellow brown strands, inside whitish, then becoming dark greenish brown when mature, to about 6 cm across
Indistinct when young, strong and rather unpleasant when mature, and detectable from several metres away
Infrequent, more common in Scotland
Partially buried in sandy soil in pine woods
