Fruiting Body Resupinate, attached to the substrate, smooth to lumpy, waxy, white to cream to greyish Flesh Soft, watery when fresh Smell Phenol Taste Unknown Season Autumn to spring Distribution Very common Habitat On dead wood, usually from deciduous trees especially beech Spore Print White Microscopic Features Spores ellipsoidal to subglobose, smooth (very rarely minutely warted), cyanophilous (6-11) x (6-8.5) µm2. Basidia clavate 4 spored, containing drops, with a basal clamp. Hyphal system monomitic, with clamps, 3-5 µm wide, cyanophilous. Cystidia not present. Hyphal ends present in the basidial layer.
