Convex, expanding with age, sometimes flat, smooth, sometimes lined at the margin, reddish brown when moist, drying pale brown, about 2 to 10 cm across

Spores ellipsoidal to bean shaped, smooth (6.5-11) x (4-5.5) µm2. Gill edge cystidia flask shaped, some with an encrusted apex. Cap cuticle cells club and pear shaped.
