Convex, then flattened, brown, covered with pale coarse wrinkles, margin lined, to about 5 cm across
Broad, crowded, free, white then pink
Equal, slender, silky fibrous, whitish or pale grey
Rare, though more frequent in Southern England
On dead deciduous wood, favouring beech and ash
Spores sub-spherical to ellipsoidal, smooth (6-8) x (5-6) µm2
Take care not to confuse with P. phlebophorus
