Cup shaped, often irregular, inner surface yellow-brown to dark brown, smooth, outer surface whitish to pale brown, finely scurfy, attached to the substrate by a short stem, to about 12cm across

Microscopic Features

Spores ellipsoidal, smooth (15-17) x (8-10)µm2. Asci (260-300)x(13-14)µm2. Asci tips blued in iodine. Paraphyses equal, septate, tips slightly swollen.

Notes

Specimens growing on rotted manure may be confused with P. vesiculosa. Note that most Peziza species cannot be identified without microscopy.
