Microscopic Features

Spores ellipsoidal, warty (14-18) x (7-9)µm2. Asci (250-280) x (11-12)µm2. Asci tips blued in iodine. Paraphyses equal, septate, slightly swollen at tips.

This species cannot be identified without a microscope. There are several other Peziza species which grow on fire sites, including P. petersii, P. violacea and P. proteana
