Convex, then flattened, or slightly depressed, with a central bump, brown to grey brown, to about 10 cm across

Microscopic Features

Spores ellipsoidal, with amyloid warts (7.5-9.5) x (4-6) µm2. Basidia four spored. Gill edge cystidia cylindrical, septate, with a needle like tip, and a broader base (urticoid).

Notes

As with most Melanoleuca species, this fungus cannot be recognised without microscopy.
