Convex, expanding with age, smooth when young, breaking up into coarse scales, pinkish brown to reddish brown, margin when young connected to the stem by a white cobweb like veil, about 15 to 50 mm across

Free, broad, close, white to cream

+/- equal, fibrous, white, the lower half decorated with pinkish scales

Firm, pale
