Fruiting Body Bracket shaped, laterally attached to the substrate, upper surface velvety when young, then smooth, initially pinkish, becoming darker with age, radially zoned, margin rounded, pinkish to whitish, underside initially whitish, then pinkish, finally light brown, bruising darker, pores 4-6 per mm, often exuding drops of red liquid. Brackets grow to about 20 cm across. Flesh Soft, fleshy, pale brown when young, hard and dark brown when old Smell Indistinct Taste Indistinct Season Summer to winter Distribution Infrequent Habitat On dead wood from coniferous trees Spore Print White Microscopic Features Spores sausage shaped, hyaline, smooth (5-6.5) x (2-2.5) µm2 Edibility Inedible Notes This species is very similar to Ischnoderma resinosum which grows on dead wood from deciduous trees.
