Convex, expanding with age, scaly when viewed with a hand lens, sometimes radially cracking, yellow, yellow brown to orange brown, to about 5 cm across

Microscopic Features

Spores ellipsoidal to almond shaped, smooth (6.5-8.5) x (4-5) µm2. Basidia clavate, four spored. Gill edge cystidia spindle shaped, apex blunt, often with crystals at the apex, and clavate. Pleurocystidia spindle shaped, apex blunt, often with crystals at the apex. Stem cystidia clavate to balloon shaped. Cap cuticle filamentous.
