Cap Convex, with a central peak, expanding with age, coarsely fibrous, margin ragged, white then yellowish brown to reddish brown, to about 6 cm across Gills Adnate, crowded, whitish then brown Stem +/- equal, smooth or slightly fibrous, white then yellowish brown to reddish brown, base slightly expanded, sometimes with red stains Flesh Firm, whitish. On exposure to ammonia solution rapidly yellow, then slowly black Smell Very strong, a mixture of flowery and over ripe pears Taste Indistinct Season Autumn Distribution Infrequent Spore Print Snuff brown Microscopic Features Spores almond shaped, smooth (8-11) x (5-7) µm2.
