Convex, with a narrow central bump, becoming flattened, felty, ochraceous brown, about 1 to 4 cm across
Adnate, crowded, brown, margin serrated, pale
Equal, fibrous, sometimes with a faint ring zone near the apex, whitish then ochraceous brown with age
Summer to autumn
On sandy soil with birch and willow, also on dunes with Salix repens and Ammophila arenaria
Spores bean shaped, smooth (7.5-10.5) x (5-6.5) µm2. Basidia club shaped, four spored. Gill edge cystidia cylindrical, club shaped, or balloon shaped, forming short chains
