Cap

Convex, expanding with age, irregular, smooth, orange to orange brown, to about 7 cm across

Spines

Free to adnate, brittle and easily detached, white, sometimes with a pinkish tinge, to about 5 mm long

Stem

Usually central, stocky to slender, whitish, sometimes with a pinkish tinge

Flesh

Firm, pale pink discolouring yellowish
