Convex, lined, margin sometimes scalloped, yellow brown, drying pale brown, to about 1 cm across

Microscopic Features

Spores almond shaped, often with small wing like appendages (calyptrate), mottled (9-12) x (5-7) µm2. Basidia club shaped 4 spored. Cystidia on the stem apex cylindrical, sometimes with an expanded head (capitate). Gill face cystidia not present. Gill edge cystidia cylindrical to slightly flask shaped (lageniform), often capitate.

Notes

This fungus cannot be recognised without microscopy. There are numerous small Galerina species, all of which are rather hard to identify.
