Common Name Common Bird's Nest Fruiting Body Initially drum or urn shaped, sides whitish, upper surface scurfy, yellow to orange, becoming cup shaped and darkening with age, upper surface rupturing to expose a hollow interior containing a small number of grey seed like spore cases, or peridioles, to about 8 mm across Flesh Soft Smell Indistinct Taste Indistinct Season Autumn to spring Distribution Infrequent Habitat On debris, such as twigs, dead bracken stems, leaves etc, often in large numbers Microscopic Features Spores ovoid, smooth (7-10) x (3-5) µm2 Edibility Inedible
