Kidney shaped or shell shaped, surface smooth to finely downy, lobed, margin often notched, whitish to pale brown, to about 20mm across
Fairly distant, whitish then pinkish brown
Autumn to winter
On twigs and branches, usually from deciduous trees
Spores sub-globose, finely warty (6.5-8.5) x (5-7) µm2
This fungus is easily confused with C. variabilis, though the two are readily separated by examination of the spores under a microscope
