Convex, then flattened, sometimes with a broad central bump, smooth, pinkish brown to brown, to about 10 cm across

Adnate, violet, then rust brown

Club shaped, with a distinct ring zone, the region above the ring is violet when young, the region below the ring is whitish and banded as if encased in a sock

Ellipsoidal, smooth, finely roughened (8-10) x (5-6.5) µm2. Basidia slender, club shaped, 4 spored. No gill edge cystidia.
