Convex with a broad central bump, smooth to finely wrinkled, margin lined, with veil remnants when young, orange brown, drying paler, to about 3 cm across

Microscopic Features

Spores ellipsoidal, smooth (7-8.5) x (4-4.5) µm2. Basidia club shaped, four spored. Gill edge cystidia finger shaped.

Notes

This species cannot be recognised without microscopy. It could be confused with C. aporos, C. blattaria and C. filaris, and even Galerina marginata, which occurs on wood.
