Notes

This is the species that is cultivated commercially and sold in shops in Britain, either as button mushrooms when young, or open cap mushrooms when mature. More recently shops have been selling mature specimens as Portobello mushrooms. Young specimens with brown caps are often sold as chestnut mushrooms.
