Pores Whitish, then pinkish, sometimes exuding droplets of red liquid when young, irregular, large, often slot like, often decurrent Stem Central or lateral, thick, white then pink Flesh White, firm Smell Fungal Season Late autumn to summer Distribution Frequent Habitat On dead wood of broad leaved trees, often appearing to grow on soil, but actually growing from buried wood Spore Print White Microscopic Features Basidiospores ellipsoidal, hyaline, inamyloid, smooth (4.5-6.5) x (3.5-5) µm2. Chlamydospores sub-spherical (3-5) x (3-4.5) µm2. Basidia slender, clavate, four spored. Hyphal system monomitic, clamps present. Gloeocystidia slender, sinuous, clavate. Edibility Inedible
